thoughts on pre-spring fashion: the sailor… [part 1]

24 Feb

One of the looks for the Boulevardier’s spring fashion theme this year is going to be that of the sailor… the spring fashion theme is multifaceted and the sailor is just one part of it, think of it as a pre-spring look.  All the looks for this spring theme that I’ll be releasing will revolve around Sinclair Sexsmith’s theory of Radical Masculinity which is an exploration and deterritorialisation of masculinity in terms of feminism and genderfuck, which I’ll discuss more in the weeks to come.   As for now, remember that the sailor look must be executed with caution and the upmost care, taking pains to achieve a casual simplicity, sophistication and body consciousness.  As much as this look is a costume, one should really try to make it look at natural as possible; achieving something more of a downplayed fetish look rather than a cheap halloween costume.  As with all the aspects of the spring fashion theme, the sailor look should be treated as a work in progress, something we, the anarchist fashion community, plays with and shares with each other, and in the process we will discover more about each other, our bodies, and our identities than we knew before. Enjoy!
